Custodial Operations

About

Custodial Operations is responsible for providing custodial services to academic, athletic and administrative facilities. Routine cleaning is scheduled once a day during one of three work shifts. Services continue to improve based on a Team Cleaning approach in order to enhance building cleanliness and maintain costs.

Work Hours

First shift – 5 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Second shift – 4:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
Third shift – 10 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
Weekend – Saturday and Sunday, 6 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Late Night – Thursday-Sunday, 8 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.

General Purpose Classrooms	5x per week every week	Cleaning podiums Cleaning whiteboards/chalkboards if used. Clean or disinfect frequently touched surfaces including desks, door handles, and light switches. Vacuum floors.
Elevators	5x per week every week	Detail clean door tracks with hand brush. Clean and disinfect control panel. Spot clean aluminum. Vacuum. Damp mop w/ flat mop.
Stairwells	3x per week every week	Check lights and report needed repairs. Wipe and disinfect handrails. Vacuum. Damp mop w/ flat mop.
Public Space (Ground Floor)	5x per week every week	Collect trash in public areas and mobius stations. Clean all horizontal and frequently touched surfaces.

Custodial Programs

Custodial Programs is designed to keep the Custodial Operations team at the forefront of technology, training and sustainability. Custodial Programs focuses on improvements to janitorial cleaning processes and schedules, products, equipment, training, quality, safety, customer care, and sustainability to continuously ensure quality service for all customers across the University.
