Breazeale Nuclear Reactor Beam Lab Addition

The Breazeale Nuclear Reactor Beam Lab Addition Project consists of both new construction and renovation of existing spaces for a new neutron beam hall and student/faculty support spaces. The new neutron beam laboratory will include basic floor area for experimental stations, control room, waste and RO tank room, modified Hot Room dock access and space for future fit out for office space and miscellaneous storage.

The overall proposed construction consists of a new 12,135 SF expansion of the adjoining portion of the existing structure. Both the new addition and the expanded areas to the existing facility incorporates appropriate sustainability principals, but LEED certification will not be pursued. The proposed new two story addition would add 6,057 SF of lower level laboratory space and 6,078 SF of upper level research space. The addition would also add an internal corridor to provide circulation around secure areas of the facility.
